The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce administers the legendary Walk of Fame for the City of Los Angeles and has proudly hosted the globally iconic star ceremonies for decades. Millions of people from here and around the world have visited this cultural landmark since 1960.

ABOUT OUR HONOREE

“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is shouting how proud we are to welcome The Isley Brothers to the Hollywood Walk of Fame” stated Ana Martinez, Hollywood Walk of Fame producer.

“Their incredible legacy in music has influenced generations of artists and fans around the world, and we’re proud to celebrate their enduring impact with this well-deserved star,” added Martinez.

Few groups in American music have shaped culture, inspired generations, and transcended genres the way The Isley Brothers have. They are not just icons; they are the blueprint. Their influence stretches from Liverpool to Los Angeles, touching the Beatles to Ice Cube, and echoing in every decade of modern music.

In 2025, The Isley Brothers celebrated an unprecedented milestone: 66 years since their explosive first hit, Shout, and eight consecutive decades on the Billboard charts, a record no other group in history holds. They are also the most sampled group of all time, a testament to the staying power, richness, and innovation of their sound.

Their journey began in the mid-1950s as a young gospel quartet in Cincinnati. After the tragic loss of 13-year-old Vernon Isley, the remaining brothers—O’Kelly, Rudolph, and Ronald—moved to New York City in 1957 with a bold dream. They transformed grief into greatness, writing their breakout anthem, “Shout”, a song that would become a global celebration staple for generations.

By 1959, they released their debut album and began carving out a sound that no one else could replicate—fearless, soulful, and deeply original.

Across their extraordinary career, The Isley Brothers reinvented themselves again and again. They dominated the Black music charts, continuously breaking barriers and genres. Along the way, they welcomed future icons into their orbit—Jimi Hendrix and Elton John both played in their band before becoming legends in their own right.

Their discography reads like a history book of American music, filled with classics that shaped entire eras: Givin’ It Back, a visionary reinterpretation of rock and soul; 3 + 3 and Go for Your Guns, genre-defining soul and funk masterpieces; Brother, Brother, Brother, a glittering rock evolution; and “Fight the Power”, later reimagined as Public Enemy’s cultural anthem. From quiet storm to disco to love ballads, they created the soundtracks for revolutions, romances, and generations.

Universally respected and endlessly imitated, The Isley Brothers have also earned the highest honors in music, entering the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1992, winning the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014, and being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2022.

Their songs continue to shape modern music, sampled by artists like Drake, Jay-Z, Notorious B.I.G., and Megan Thee Stallion. Their fingerprint is everywhere.

Even in recent years, The Isley Brothers have proven their timelessness. In 2021, they released “Friends and Family” with Snoop Dogg, followed by their 2022 album Make Me Say It Again, Girl. The title track, featuring Beyoncé, went number 1 for five consecutive weeks and stayed in the top ten for over eight months, earning them yet another Soul Train Award.

The album also featured an all-star lineup: Earth, Wind & Fire; El DeBarge; Rick Ross; 2 Chainz; Quavo & Takeoff; and more, a rare cross-generational stamp of respect.

Today, Ron and Ernie continue touring, electrifying audiences worldwide with the same spirit they had more than sixty years ago. Their music has grown with the world, yet remains unmistakably theirs—bold, soulful, and eternal.

With a peerless catalog, unmatched longevity, and influence that touches every modern genre, The Isley Brothers aren’t just part of American music history; they are the foundation of it.

They taught us how to Shout!

They taught us how to love through song.

And decade after decade, they continue to prove why they are—and always will be—living legends.

“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome actor Alan Cumming to the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” stated Ana Martinez, Walk of Fame producer. “As we step into the new year, we’re thrilled to honor the incomparable Alan Cumming with a Walk of Fame star. Alan’s remarkable range, fearless artistry, and dedication to his craft have captivated audiences around the world. His star shines as brightly as his spirit, and we’re proud to celebrate his contributions to entertainment here in Hollywood,” added Martinez.

Trailblazer, creative polymath, renaissance man, maverick, master of reinvention, beyond eclectic: Alan Cumming is all of these and more.

His most recent adventures include winning four Emmys for hosting and producing the US Traitors, being named Artistic Director of Pitlochry Festival Theatre in his native Scotland, playing the lead in Brian Cox’s directorial film debut Glenrothan, recording a single with Gaelic rapper Griogair Labhruidh , writing a book with his longtime collaborator Forbes Masson to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the creation of their cabaret alter-egos Victor and Barry, shooting a film in French, voicing an elderly woman with a pet crab in the Disney Kids series Robogobo and all the while touring with NPR’s Ari Shapiro in their cabaret Och and Oy! as well as his solo show Uncut . Next up he returns to the superhero fold in Marvel’s Avengers:Doomsday!

He is the author of seven books including a New York Times #1 bestselling memoir, performs in concert regularly in halls around the world and co-owns his own, eponymous cabaret boite Club Cumming in New York City’s East Village, a home for ‘all ages, all genders, all colours, all sexualities, where kindness is all and anything could happen!’ Perhaps not surprisingly, Time Magazine named him one of the three most fun people in show business (the others were Cher and Stanley Tucci!)

Thirty years ago his Hamlet stormed the West End and he was hailed as ‘an actor knocking at the door of greatness’. A quarter of a century ago he was a sensation as Cabaret’s Master of Ceremonies in a production that forever changed the Broadway landscape. A decade ago his visceral, virtually one man Macbeth was a stunning, transatlantic coup de theatre.

His screen work ranges from art house to blockbuster, cult to mainstream, but his performances are always indelible and some immortal: Mr. Floop in Spy Kids, Eli in The Good Wife, Nightcrawler in X2: X Men United, Sebastian in The High Life, ‘O’ in Sex and the City, Boris in Goldeneye, King James in Doctor Who, Sandy Frink in Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, Mayor Menlove in Schmigadoon and himself on Broad City.

The list of his collaborators over the years includes Liza Minnelli, Jeremy O. Harris, Jackie Chan, the Smurfs, David Bowie, The Simpsons, Robert Wilson, Stanley Kubrick, Jay Z, Bianca Del Rio, the Spice Girls, George Lucas, Terence Blanchard, KT Tunstall and not forgetting Dora the Explorer, Arthur and Elmo.

He had a photo exhibition named Alan Cumming Snaps! and an award-winning fragrance named Cumming. He has played Dionysus, the Devil, God, the Pope and was shot by Herb Ritts for Vanity Fair as Pan. He recently played a 70-year-old woman. He has been a Lee Jeans model and on a stamp. He is a Tony and Olivier award winning theatre actor. He hosted the Tonys and was nominated for an Emmy for doing so. In fact, he has been nominated for seven Emmys, winning four for his work as the host and producer of the US Traitors along with another New York Emmy, a Scottish BAFTA and a British Comedy Award. He is an Independent Spirit award-winning producer and National Board of Review winning director. He is a Grammy and multiple Golden Globe nominee. His portrait was hung in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery. He has four honourary doctorates and over forty awards for being a humanitarian, but as he says, ‘awards mean nothing’!
