Molly Shannon will be honored with the 2,850th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on June 22nd at 11:30 am PT at 6765 Hollywood Boulevard. Shannon will receive her star in the category of Television. Joining emcee Kit Hoover will be Will                                                                                                                          Ferrell and Connie Britton.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce administers the legendary Walk of Fame for the City of Los Angeles and has proudly hosted the globally iconic star ceremonies for decades. Millions of people from here and around the world have visited this cultural landmark since 1960.

It makes this moment even more special that her star will be placed next to her dear friend and fellow Saturday Night Live alum Will Ferrell, creating a wonderful full-circle tribute to their shared legacy in comedy," said Ana Martinez, Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremonies.

Molly Shannon has truly cemented herself as one of Hollywood’s most beloved and versatile performers on television and the silver screen.

Shannon spent six unforgettable seasons on Saturday Night Live as a member of the repertory company, where she created some of the show’s most iconic characters, including Mary Katherine Gallagher, Helen Madden the licensed joyologist, and Sally O’Malley, while also delivering hilarious celebrity impressions of stars such as Courtney Love and Liza Minnelli. Her work on the legendary series earned her a Primetime Emmy nomination and quickly established her as a leading voice in comedy.

Since then, Shannon has built an acclaimed career spanning comedy, drama, television, and film. This summer, she will reunite with Will Ferrell in the upcoming Netflix comedy series The Hawk. The series, which also stars Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster, and Luke Wilson, follows golfer Lonnie Hawkins as he makes his return to the PGA tour. She recently appeared in the fourth season of Only Murders in the Building, earning a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the ensemble cast. She also received widespread acclaim for her performances in The White Lotus, The Other Two, and I Love That for You, with award nominations from the Critics’ Choice Awards, Film Independent Spirit Awards, and the Emmys throughout her career. Additional television credits include Divorce, Will & Grace, the Wet Hot American Summer miniseries, and Enlightened, among countless others.

On the big screen, Shannon has delivered standout performances in films including Other People, for which she won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actress, as well as the Academy Award-nominated film Promising Young Woman, A Good Person, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Wet Hot American Summer, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Year of the Dog, Never Been Kissed, and, of course, Superstar, which brought her beloved Mary Katherine Gallagher character to the big screen.

Beyond acting, Shannon is also a celebrated author. Her memoir, Hello, Molly!, became a New York Times bestseller, among numerous other accolades, and was widely praised for its deeply human stories about grief and joy. She is also the author of the children’s picture book Tilly the Trickster, a playful and heartfelt story about a spirited young prankster who learns important lessons while never losing her sense of fun.

In addition to her work on screen, Shannon made her Broadway debut in 2010 in the hit musical Promises, Promises alongside Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth.

She also reunited with longtime collaborator Will Ferrell in 2018 for a series of fan-favorite comedy specials as eccentric broadcasters Cord Hosenbeck and Tish Cattigan, hilariously covering the Rose Parade and the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for Amazon Prime Video and HBO.

Shannon has dedicated her time to philanthropic work, collaborating with P.S. ARTS, a nonprofit organization focused on improving access to arts education for children in underserved schools, and the American Library Association, which supports libraries, literacy, and equitable access to information and education across communities.

Born in Shaker Heights, Ohio and a graduate of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts, Molly Shannon continues to captivate audiences with her singular ability to balance heartfelt vulnerability with unforgettable comedy. She currently resides in Los Angeles, and her greatest pride is being a mom to her two children, Stella and Nolan.
