In 2005, Roberts’ powerful on-the-ground reporting from the Mississippi Gulf Coast following Hurricane Katrina reverberated nationwide. In a poignant moment just before a live report for GMA from Gulfport, she learned her own family was safe. An emotional Roberts told Charles Gibson on-air, “They’re okay.”
