Actor Willem Dafoe will be honored with the 2,768^th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, January 8, at 11:30 a.m. PT at 6284 Hollywood Boulevard. Dafoe will receive his star in the category of Motion Pictures. Joining emcee Ellen K as speakers will be actor/director Patricia Arquette and actor Pedro Pascal.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce administers the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame for the City of Los Angeles and has proudly hosted the globally iconic star ceremonies for decades. Millions of people from here and around the world have visited this cultural landmark since 1960.

“Willem Dafoe is an immensely talented and versatile actor who has become a prominent figure in the film industry. He has captivated audiences with his remarkable performances, often portraying characters with a unique intensity and complexity,” stated Ana Martinez, Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to honor Willem with the first Walk of Fame star of 2024!” added Martinez.

Having made well over one hundred films in his legendary career, Willem Dafoe is internationally respected for bringing versatility, boldness, and daring to some of the most iconic films of our time. His artistic curiosity in exploring the human condition leads him to projects all over the world, large and small, Hollywood films as well as Independent cinema.

In 1979, he was given a role in Michael's Cimino's Heaven's Gate, from which he was fired.

Since then, Dafoe has collaborated with directors who represent a virtual encyclopedia of modern cinema:  Hector Babenco, Kathryn Bigelow, Kenneth Branagh, Anton Corbijn, David Cronenberg, Werner Herzog,Spike Lee, David Lynch, Anthony Minghella, Dee Rees, Paul Schrader, Martin Scorsese, Guillermo del Toro, Lars von Trier, Wim Wenders and Zhang Yimou.

He has been recognized with four Academy Award nominations: three for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Oliver Stone’s Platoon, E. Elias Merhige’s Shadow Of The Vampire (for which he also received Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nominations), and Sean Baker’s The Florida Project (also Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nominations), as well as Best Leading Actor for Julian Schnabel’s At Eternity's Gate (also a Golden Globe nomination).  He has been awarded by the New York Film Critics Circle and the National Board of Review, as well as twice by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.  Additionally, he is the recipient of two Independent Spirit Awards, the Venice Film Festival Volpi Cup, and a Berlinale Honorary Golden Bear for Lifetime Achievement.

Dafoe and his wife, director Giada Colagrande, have worked on four films together: Padre, A Woman, Before It Had A Name, and the documentary Bob Wilson’s Life And Death Of Marina Abramovic.

His films include:  The Lighthouse,  John Wick,  Finding Nemo, The Boondock Saints, Togo, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Poor Things, The Legend of Ochi, Pet Shop Days, Gonzo Girl, Nosferatu, and coming soon Beetlejuice 2.  Most recently, he was seen in Vasilis Katsoupis’ Inside and Asteroid City, his fifth collaboration with Wes Anderson. Dafoe can be currently seen in Poor Things, in theatres now.

Dafoe is one of the founding members of The Wooster Group, the New York-based experimental theatre collective. He created and performed in all of the group's work from 1977 to 2005, both in the U.S. and internationally.  Since then, he worked with Richard Foreman in Idiot Savant at NYC's Public Theatre, with Robert Wilson on two international productions: The Life & Death of Marina Abramovic and The Old Woman (opposite Mikhail Baryshnikov), Marina Abramovic's opera 7 Deaths of Maria Callas, and developed a new theatre piece, directed by Romeo Castellucci, based on Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Minister's Black Veil.
