The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce honored legendary Italian actor Franco Nero with the 2,835th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, February 12th, at 11:30 am PT in front of The Montalban Theatre at 1611 Vine Street. Nero was honored with his star in the category of Motion Pictures.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce administers the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame for the City of Los Angeles and has proudly hosted the globally iconic star ceremonies for decades. Millions of people from here and around the world have visited this cultural landmark since 1960.

“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to honor Franco Nero whose remarkable body of work and lasting influence on international cinema make him a truly deserving recipient of this honor,” stated Hollywood Walk of Fame Producer Ana Martinez. “His star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame celebrates a career that has inspired audiences across generations and around the world,” added Martinez.

Franco Nero is one of the most internationally recognized and enduring figures in Italian and world cinema. With a career spanning more than six decades, he has appeared in more than 200 films across Europe, the United States, and beyond, working with many of the most influential directors in film history and becoming a true global ambassador of Italian cinema.

Nero achieved worldwide fame in 1966 with Sergio Corbucci’s Django, a performance that instantly cemented his status as a screen icon and gave rise to one of the most influential characters in the history of the Western genre. The role has since become legendary, inspiring countless homages and reinterpretations, including Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, in which Nero made a celebrated cameo.

Over the years, Franco Nero has demonstrated remarkable versatility, moving seamlessly between genre cinema and auteur-driven projects. His filmography includes collaborations with directors such as Rainer Werner Fassbinder, John Huston, Luis Buñuel, Zeffirelli, Elio Petri, and Giuliano Montaldo, as well as performances in major international productions alongside some of the most renowned actors of his generation. In addition to Westerns, he has excelled in historical epics, political dramas, thrillers, and romantic films, consistently bringing depth, charisma, and intensity to his roles.

Beyond acting, Nero has also worked as a director, screenwriter, and producer, further demonstrating his commitment to cinema as an art form. His contributions have been recognized with numerous awards and lifetime achievement honors from major film festivals and cultural institutions worldwide.
