We are happy to know that Weathers was actively involved in preparing to receive his star before his passing, and that he was very proud to be recognized with this prestigious honor,” added Martinez.
Carl Weathers will always remain an icon of film and television. For more than fifty years, the feature films in which he appeared have grossed well over one billion dollars in box-office revenue worldwide. Television appearances in Arrested Development, where he played a version of himself, and most recently as the powerful “Greef Karga” in The Mandalorian, garnering an Emmy nomination for acting, have become cult favorites.
Weathers’ artistry expanded to directing, from a critically acclaimed production of the stage play Danny and The Deep Blue Sea, to television, including The Mandalorian, FBI, Chicago Med, Hawaii 5.0, and Law & Order. At the time of his passing in 2024, as a prolific writer, Weathers had been crafting and developing multiple projects that he was also slated to produce and direct, many of which are currently in the process of being produced.
