Media Credentials
Requirements, Guidelines, and Application
HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME®
MEDIA CREDENTIALS SELECTIONS CRITERIA AND GUIDELINES
LIMITED SPACE
Hollywood Walk of Fame® ceremonies and other Hollywood Chamber events have limited space in the designated media areas. The Chamber would appreciate media cooperation in keeping attending staff to the absolute minimum necessary to cover the events, three video staffers and one photographer per outlet.
ELIGIBILITY
Credentials are for working media over the age of 18 that need access to designated media locations to produce editorial coverage, not solely to watch the event. This includes newspapers, TV, radio and legitimate digital websites that produce consistent and professional content adhering to accepted journalistic principles.
The Hollywood Chamber will issue media credentials to “members of the working press.” By definition, a “member of the working press” shall be a paid employee or representative of a known and established media organization.
Having been credentialed at previous Hollywood Walk of Fame® ceremonies or other Hollywood Chamber events does not guarantee acceptance.
Journalists who receive credentials must be on assignment for a reputable media organization that has a record of consistently covering Hollywood entertainment events. Any freelance photographer or reporter must be able to submit an assignment letter from a reputable news outlet if requested.
On a case-by-case basis, the Hollywood Chamber will consider applications for media credentials from independent online media representatives. Credentials will be granted to these individuals if space allows and after all established media organizations have been accommodated.
All journalists who wish to attend Hollywood Walk of Fame® ceremonies or other Hollywood Chamber events must submit a media credential application. Journalists, and their editors, who apply for credentials acknowledge they have read and agree to these media eligibility guidelines as well as broadcast restrictions. Live streaming is not allowed. Organizations may request more than one media credential; however, the Hollywood Chamber reserves the right to limit the number of credentials allocated to any media organization in its sole discretion. The Hollywood Chamber does not guarantee that any credentials will be awarded to any organization.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES AND DEADLINES
Media credential applications must be received by the established deadlines. The Hollywood Chamber will not guarantee that media who submit their applications after the deadline will be accommodated. Regardless, submitting an application in no way guarantees your agency will receive a credential. Space may be limited and only a specific number of media credentials will be issued. Applying for credentials does not guarantee credentials will be approved. Media credentials will be distributed at the discretion of the Hollywood Chamber.
CREDENTIAL ACCEPTANCE
The Hollywood Chamber encourages all media to attend Hollywood Chamber events. However, if there is a limitation on the number of credentials issued for a specific event, the Hollywood Chamber will consider the following criteria, in order of significance, when issuing approval:
● Media organizations with a large national and international audience
● Local media in the host city
● Established media outlets that attend Hollywood Chamber events on a regular basis
● Applications received by the deadline date
● Hollywood entertainment specialty media
● Independent online representatives
An acceptance or rejection email will be sent to the applicant and editor listed on the application no later than 10 days after the application deadline. Please contact [email protected] if you have a question about the status of your application.
CREDENTIAL USAGE
Credential use conditions
Credentials must be worn and visible at all times during the event. Each credential is issued specifically for the journalist who was accepted through the credential process. Any media outlet that wishes to change the name(s) of its credentialed media must submit a new credential request. If the change is to take place after the credential deadline has passed, contact [email protected] prior to the event. Credentials may not be given or loaned to another person for any reason.
Credentialed journalists will receive admission to the event, access to media work areas, mixed zone and to any other areas where media access is provided inside the event venue. Misuse of a Hollywood Chamber media credential will result in the immediate loss of the credential, removal from the media areas and the possible loss of credential privileges for future events for the journalist and the assigning media agency.
Media members credentialed as photographers and videographers are expected to use professional equipment. The use of equipment such as ‘point and shoot’ style cameras or mobile phones that are not considered professional equipment will result in access being restricted or revoked.
Media members are expected to dress professionally. This includes no political promotion or third party commercial advertising of any kind.
PHOTOGRAPHERS AND VIDEOGRAPHERS
Photographers and videographers must be on assignment from a known and established media organization and use professional camera equipment.
All photographs and videos taken at the event are to be used solely for non-commercial editorial purposes by the publication and website for which an individual is credentialed. Photography is for editorial and/or personal use only and may not be published otherwise.
Failure to comply with the policies stated in the preceding paragraph may result in the immediate loss of credential privileges for all future Hollywood Chamber events. Additionally, the media outlet associated with the photographer or videographer in violation of such policies may lose the ability to credential a photographer at future Hollywood Chamber events.
